TRIP DESCRIPTION:
This bicycle tour begins and ends in Beijing, the cycle tour takes us into the most fascinating scenic region north of Beijing (Peking), in the West still barely known. There are two places we reach the Great Wall.
Above all, at Huanghua, on the "Wild Wall", we have the unique opportunity to see the Great Wall in its original condition and untouched by tourist flows to experience.
Mostly little traffic on side streets we get a good insight into the rural life of China. We drive through the deep canyons of the Bai River, through the granary of Beijing's orbit and the Miyun Reservoir.
On the first day, the guide will meet the participants at the Beijing airport, then transfer to the hotel and go for an easy ride around Tian'anmen and the outside of Zhongnanhai (residence of current leaders) to get a feel for the city. If there is time we can take in a few sights such as the market areas and "hutongs" (the soon-to-be-extinct small alleyways of old Beijing)....
the group will cycle out of town to the Ming Tombs and onto Badaling Great Wall site and spend the night there.
The next day the group will hike between Simatai and Jinshanling and then cycle to Chengde.
On the last day, there will be a short tour of a few Chengde's sights including the Summer Palace Resort and the Tibetan Monastery, a small replica of the Potala Palace in Lhasa.
In the afternoon we will return to Beijing via train or bus from Chengde.
In Beijing, we are at the end of our journey to explore the bicycles, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Lama Temple, the Summer Palace and Tiananmen Square on the program.
